Bluekey says “hola” to global strategic partner

Bluekey Holdings (Pty) Ltd, the pan-African professional business solutions company, today announced that Spanish headquartered global SAP partner, Seidor, has taken a major stake in the business. The strategic investment boosts the Seidor group to the top three global providers of SAP Business One solutions and services, and to number one in EMEA.

Bluekey’s 700+ customers across Africa will benefit from access to a global company with experience in delivering communication, infrastructure and enterprise resource planning (ERP) products and services in both developed and developing countries. In addition, a broader pool of expertise, technologies and services will further help Bluekey customer companies realise additional benefits from their investment in ERP – boosting productivity and efficiencies with the latest technologies.

Bluekey Holdings was an attractive investment for Seidor thanks to its network of self-sufficient regional offices, extensive partner network and dedicated customer support centres. In addition, the Bluekey group has a solid financial foundation with an excellent growth record. The deal fast tracks Seidor’s expansion into the African market — it already has a presence in North Africa — where it aims to support the subsidiaries of its multi-national customers based around the world. What’s more, the Spanish company also sees the opportunity for African SMEs to become regional and global businesses.

“We knew we could increase our business growth in Africa with the right alliance,” said Carlos Iribarren, head of SAP Business One at Seidor. “And Bluekey is the ideal partner to help us. It has the right people, know-how, experience, relationships and technology to offer innovative and excellent service across the continent. Plus, with a customer retention rate of 99%, and healthy growth in recent years, you know they are doing things right. This deal has set us on the right track to become the go-to SAP Business One partner for global roll-outs.”

As well as being the largest SAP Business One provider in Africa, with 300+ active SAP Business One customers, Bluekey is an early adopter of SAP HANA, SAP’s in-memory database. It is one of the top SAP Business One HANA partners in the world with more than 35 sites running HANA either in the cloud or on-site.

“After 10 years of steady, organic growth, we realised we needed a strategic partner with the skills, industry knowledge, and global expansion experience and ambitions to take us to the next level. This will allow us to realise the significant potential of the business and its resources in order to better serve our customers as they navigate the digital age,” said Kevin O’Brien, Bluekey co-founder. “As technology requirements become more complex, customers demand more from their suppliers. This deal ensures we can continue to help our customers scale their businesses into the future.”

Bluekey Holdings becomes part of the Seidor group, which will be reflected in the branding in due course. Operational management remains the same and customer relationships are unchanged.

Bluekey launches SAP Business One in Mauritius

Bluekey and SAP Business One in MauritiusBluekey Software Solutions, with branches in South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania – and recently Mauritius – has established itself as a major player in the provision of enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions to companies in Africa, enjoying exceptional growth since inception.

The largest and most successful SAP Business One partner in Africa, Bluekey implements, supports and develops ERP and accounting solutions for SME’s. The company is currently responsible for almost 40% of SAP Business One sales in SADC and COMESA and has expanded from its initial beginnings of core ERP to incorporate development, networking and cloud and mobility solutions into its portfolio.

With economic growth in Africa outperforming that of the developed world, and rapidly growing cross-border trade, local business owners continue to expand and diversify across the continent. The company is filling a void in a market hungry for qualified, on-the-ground expertise to implement and optimise integrated business management tools that enable companies to drive efficiencies, gain competitive edge and increase profits.

For many years ERP vendors have relied on old software with periodic updates to keep their customers ticking over. The paradigm shift has come with major suppliers like SAP who have found that the frequent application of technological innovation to ERP yields impressive results. Customers get to run their businesses smarter and grow faster. Terabytes of data can be processed in seconds with results displayed as dashboards – which are delivered to your mobile device, or your desktop. Technological advances have driven strategies of choice. Businesses choose how they want their software deployed; cloud, on-premise or hybrid. They choose between traditional databases such as Microsoft SQL Server or in-memory databases like SAP HANA. And they choose whether they want deep industry specific applications or application that streamline processes and reduce complexity.

“Smart technology and industry knowledge contribute significantly to success in ERP implementation”, says L. Clensy Appavoo, founder of HLB Appavoo & Associates and a Director of Bluekey in Mauritius. “We see first hand that adoption of new technologies transcends the primary accounting function by driving improvement in access to information, integration and process simplification. The ability to get full visibility of all operations in real-time promotes effective decision-making, and gives businesses the confidence to grow”.

Mauritian growth prospects at 3.6% in 2016, modernization of the sugar and textile industries, and government blue and green economy initiatives bode well for business growth. With Mauritius ranking a best in Africa 17th of 189 world economies in trading across borders in the 2015 EDB survey, the country is well positioned for trading opportunities on the continent.

“With projects implemented in 19 African countries, and 26 countries in total we are able to deliver meaningful value to our clients in support of their current business setup or as they look to grow. We are equally able to cost effectively deliver solutions for a small retailer, a midsize logistics company, or a large diversified conglomerate with operations throughout the region,” says Mala Bhatt, the Managing Director at Bluekey East Africa. “Our customer base is diverse and many of them are local and regional concerns, which show that it’s not only the big companies with international ties that are keen to leverage ERP to drive business efficiency”.

SAP Business One is becoming the preferred ERP solution because it provides such an excellent fit for the typical Africa-based business. It is easily configured for varying business needs, without having to do bespoke development as is often the case with other less flexible products. Because it can be implemented ‘vanilla’ without customisations or third party applications, the complexity of implementations is dramatically reduced and support is simplified.

SAP Business One is extremely scalable so it supports companies as they grow. There is also plug-and-play integration with larger corporate systems such as Business Suite and it also offers multi-language support.

As part of its consultative approach and focus on driving greater awareness of the value of technology for business, Bluekey regularly hosts information workshops and seminars. At an event on the 22nd of October 2015 at the Hennessy Hotel, experts from Bluekey showcased features and technologies to more than 50 executives from local businesses and illustrated the relevance and impact to the Indian Ocean Islands.

“SAP Business One addresses all the key business requirements from finance and inventory, to customer relationship management; sales, and procurement, all in a single, integrated solution. SAP Business One is extremely scalable so it supports companies as they grow. Although a product of the world’s foremost international ERP vendor, SAP Business One can be localized so that it conforms to the legislative requirements of each country in which an organization operates. It also offers multi-language support. With our strong team, our track record, and our experience, we are well-positioned to make SAP Business One the number one ERP tool in Africa,” concludes Mrs. Bhatt.

Bluekey Wins SAP Business One Retail Award

Bluekey Wins SAP Business One Retail Award

Bluekey wins SAP Business One Retail awardBluekey Software Solutions, an African specialist in the implementation, consulting, support, and extension of SAP Business One enterprise resource planning has been awarded SAP Business One Retail Partner-of-the-Year, held at SAP’s annual SAP Africa Partner Awards ceremony.

The SAP Africa Partner-of-the-Year Awards is the company’s premier partner recognition programme that shines the acknowledgement spotlight upon its most outstanding partners, who have excelled in developing a partnership with SAP and in helping their customers optimise their operations, boost their productivity, and increase their respective revenues on the continent.

The criteria all nominees and winners have to conform to are not for the faint hearted and all nominees have to excel in the building of revenue, customer growth, increase in joint channel activities and even the adherence to ongoing enablement events that ensure they are current in all SAP technologies.

SAP chooses the winners based upon four factors, which are co-innovation, market expansion, service delivery and sustainability. “In order to make the best decision, we consult with our own customers and industry experts and assess the key performance indicators of the nominees,” explains Desmond Nair, Director, General Business & Partner Ecosystem, at SAP Africa.

According to Bluekey’s Managing Director, Leo Dreyer, before implementing SAP software, Bluekey dedicates substantial resources to understanding business requirements so that they can be certain of delivering the most appropriate, value-adding technology rather than just selling and deploying software.  This includes assessing whether the solution calls for Cloud or On-Premise and SQL Server or HANA.

“Our solutions are fully integrated, but we also understand that our mobile apps may need to function on- or off-line, and that the POS terminal can only go down when the store closes, not when the line drops. It’s what our customers want.”

“This award validates that we are on the right track when we offer SAP Business One industry solutions that fulfil highly specific needs and requirements,” he says. “The retail market is complex, particularly in the fashion sector – and cost sensitive – and we have to make sure that our customers businesses are run more efficiently and more profitably.”

Bluekey’s SAP Business One Retail solution is designed to meet the specific needs of SME retailers with anything from 2 to upwards of 300 till points, and set-up can range from a single multi-till store to a multi-branch or franchised environment. The SAP Business One retail software gives management the power at head office to have complete control over data, access and operations at stores – and provides retailers with a secure, customisable, flexible, scalable and integrated solution that helps overcome inefficiencies, assists in business process optimisation and provides enhanced, timely management information.

Retail group Soviet believes the award is well deserved; they were impressed with the systematic approach taken by Bluekey in the design and planned implementation of their end-to-end back- and front-office systems.  “It was pragmatic, professional, deliberate and timeous,” says Carel Bothma, Financial Executive of Soviet, “and the solution really provides for our needs.”

How important is a Loyalty System to your customers?

How important is a Loyalty System to your customers?

Loyalty RewardsFor the modern retailer this is becoming an ever larger question. Should we be implementing a loyalty system within the business and if so how will this actually benefit me? Most small to medium retailers have already allocated a portion of their budget for marketing. Traditional methods include print media advertising and flyers though we are seeing a shift towards social and electronic avenues such as twitter and Facebook. However this is usually directed towards one portion of your potential customer base and that is the new customer.

The obvious question then is what are we doing for our existing customer base and how are we enhancing their shopping experience, if at all? While growing your business is key to longevity and success it is important to take note and understand the value of the existing customer base.  Their loyalty to us at some point needs to be acknowledged. And because each customer is different how do we reward each of them in a way that reflects their individual buying behaviour and have it still based on the value of their relationship with you?

“Win greater share of wallet” (Nunes & Dréze, 2006)

By providing extra incentives, a loyalty system and programme encourages consumers to direct more of their purchases toward a business and less at competitors.

The good news is that studies show that customers want to be marketed to! Joe Public enjoys the idea of receiving extra value with each purchase and being rewarded by their relationship with you. There is of course a complete new article that can be written on the psychological aspects of reward based buying but for now let’s simply state that it works in favour of the business owner. What is important is that the value received occurs in such a way that the customer acknowledges its value and the business can afford it.

There is a huge upside to all of this since by customers registering with the loyalty system so we can understand their individual or collective buying and return patterns better. The impact of this to the business is immense. We can understand from our loyal customers what they are buying and what they are not thereby adjust our buying patterns and stock holding accordingly. It may also give us insight into items that customers associated together, helping us realise new markets and growth strategies. These patterns will also allow us to focus our marketing in areas that may either require more attention or to increase the exposure of other items.

“Yield insight into customer behaviour and preferences(Nunes & Dréze, 2006)

Loyalty program customer relationship management (CRM) systems provide a tool for collecting customer data and tracking behaviour.  This lets a business know what a consumer buys, how much, and how often.  Using CRM can determine which customers to focus marketing resources on to maximize returns, reduce overall marketing costs, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing efforts.

Businesses understand the association items have with each other like shoes and polish or couches and leather treatments. Not all of our customers who purchase one item are aware that you may sell the other and as many business do these “upsell” products are generally good profit turners. By tracking the purchases through the loyalty program we are given the opportunity to sell these products back to our customers knowing that they need it. And as they have loyalty points to spend and a rewarding relationship with us this should not be difficult at all.

In almost all scenarios the cost of losing an existing customer is high. Many companies spend a large portion of their budget trying to lure new business with specials and promotions often forgetting how many of their existing clients are being ignored. The existing customer costs us less to keep, already likes what we sell and hopefully how we do that! Best of all they will probably tell others!

Retailers must make sure that they can integrate their end-to-end processes (supply chain, financials, CRM and POS etc.). Otherwise it’s impossible to realise the full benefits of a comprehensive loyalty program – and that means you’r losing good business.
